Steven Lustica has had a stellar career at the Youth Australian representative level and won three National Youth League titles (1 x Sydney FC and 2 x Gold Coast United). Captained the Gold Coast youth team to victory and in the process got named the Youth League player of the season. There is probably a few more accolades that don;t come to mind as I write, but you get the picture - really talented young Canberra player who did as much as there was to do here in Australia, to the point that it was either get an A league squad position or go overseas.

Alas, his A League Coach could find it in his plans to start Lustica in  the top team and seemed to have given little hope for the forthcoming season. So Lustica took matters into his own hands and got himself overseas to Croatia (Hajduk), where they have a keen eye for talent and things seem to be going well.

So they should. It must be embarrassing for the FFA to look upon a talent like Lustica and watch him move OS, when the young player could have made a name for himself here in Australia, instead of one of the too many clapped out overseas players we have running around the A League. And all this work being done in the junior / youth ranks through the National Curriculum and National Development plan, to get quality players through to the A league and Socceroos! Makes you wonder.

Anyway, Steven Lustica is doing it in the top league in Croatia with a world renowned club. The video below shows some action of a game in which Lustica played. Good luck to him.
