World Cup Bid Fails and With It A Football Stadium In The ACT

This is the image that I'll always associate with the lost opportunities for Football in the ACT region arising from our failed bid to host World Cup games in the ACT.

We just keep losing in the ACT when it comes to getting Football being pushed to the front of the investment que in our region. That has to change and change quickly. No one can use the "World Cup" as the magic mantra for future Football returns to the ACT Football community. That's dead now for a long time. We are back to solving this in our own back yard.

The spotlight returns to the ACT Government and Capital Football.

Capital Football have a strategic Plan - its called "Going For Goals" covering the period 2008 to 2011.

How do you think we are going?

It would be useful if the Capital Football Board went on the road and held some community forums to get some grassroots feedback. It would be particularly helpful for those among the Board that don't get to many games.

How about the Zone Reps setting up some community football forums in their zones and feed it back to Capital Football? AS we discovered earlier this year, the Zone Reps can make the BOard sit up and take notice.

Football particpation rates are growing, as is Futsal. The Football community is a large constituency that has has yet to flex its muscles in the ACT. Time we did!
