“America by Air,” a major new exhibition in the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C., features several images from Albertsons Library’s Frank Church collection.
The exhibition documents the history of passenger air travel in the United States, and the images from the Church collection illustrate the way politicians were able to travel about the country in the post-World War II era with the advent of affordable and dependable passenger service.
The library has created a web page featuring our contribution to the national exhibit. The entire exhibition takes up a great portion of the Air and Space Museum’s first floor and has been popular so far. Smithsonian curators first contacted Boise State about contributing to the exhibit in May 2006.
