Black History Month @thelibrary

In recognition of Black History Month the Albertsons Library has two displays in the hallway gallery on the second floor. The first part is a series of twelve posters from our Curriculum Resource Center entitled African Americans Who Made A Difference.

Twelve women are commemorated for their ground-breaking contributions in fields spanning from literature to civil rights to medical science. Among those recognized are Maya Angelou, Toni Morrison and Alexa Canady.

The second part of the display is a selection of photographs from the Library's Special Collections. They include a performance by Bill Cosby at BSU; a visit to Boise by Rosa Parks; photographs of the first civil rights rally held on the Idaho capitol steps after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated; and pictures of William "Doc" Hisom, who lived in a lava stone house outside of Melba in the 1920's.

Special Collections Lists Maps & Photos

In recent weeks, Special Collections has added two new pages to our website that describe our Photo Collections and Special Collections Maps and Aerial photos. These are lists, descriptions, and bibliographies--not digitized collections themselves (yet), but they still should be of some help to researchers.

Some of the bibliographies on the Maps page are still "under construction." We hope to complete them in the coming months.
